January 25, 2016. Des Moines, Iowa. Post-forum viewer polls gave Bernie Sanders a big win following the final forum before the Iowa vote. At a Town Hall at Drake University, moderated by Hillary Clinton supporter Chris Cuomo, Bernie surpassed clearly biased questioning by the moderator, winning the support of the majority of viewers (90 to 94%) in Iowa and across America. Though Cuomo repeatedly tried to trip Bernie up on his positions, Berniei's came across as honest and informed and got through to the audience with an openness uncommon for candidates experiencing such a grilling. One Hillary supporter questioning Sanders in the forum about his position on health care appeared swayed and moved into the undecided category in front of viewers.
Taylor Gipple, a college student and first time Iowa caucus-goer presented the following question to Hillary:
It feels like there's a lot of young people like myself who are very passionate supporters of Bernie Sanders. and I just don't see the same enthusiasm from younger people for you. In fact, I've heard from quite a few people my age that they think you are dishonest. But I'd like to hear from you on why you think the enthusiasm isn't there. |
