Jill Stein is the Clear Winner of Second Presidential Debate; Clear Loser is the American People
October 9. 2016. Second Presidential Debate. While Hillary Clinton backers Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz refereed a visibly biased two person debate, Facebook viewers were treated to a three-way debate that included Jill Stein. Viewers of the three-way understood why the Republican-Democratic debate commission didn’t want Jill in the televised debate. To viewers of the inclusive debate, Jill appeared to be the only voice of reason
Throughout the debate, Hillary presented a solid performance as the voice of hypocrisy. She spoke as if she supported equal rights for Muslims in spite of the fact that she has killed over a million Muslims. She pretended to oppose the deportation of refugees after having deported Honduran children who had tried to escape the coup Hillary instigated in Honduras. Hillary pretended to care about public interests after telling Goldman Sachs that she couldn’t tell the public the truth about her support for Wall Street over the people. She pretended to care about Blacks after calling them super-predators and pushing through the mass incarceration of a record number of African-American males. Her policies have been those of deportations, wars, night raids and mass incarceration. Hillary pretended to support the environment and clean energy in spite of the fact that she has destroyed American’s water supply through her push for fracking and leaky pipelines and in spite of her promotion of the TPP which would eliminate all environmental regulations and clean water acts. She pretended to care about the Supreme Court when her campaign has been the number one beneficiary of Citizens United. She attacked Trump over tax write-offs she supported. She pretended to be offended by Trump’s eleven year old comments about women when she has terrorized rape victims to keep them silent. When asked to say something positive about Trump, she chose instead to refer to his children—even though she and Trump been good friends throughout the years and he took the higher road and chose to compliment Hillary. Hillary made multiple attacks on Vladimir Putin, who has enough nukes to wipe out every life in America hundreds of times and over. Her Syrian plans are war plans aimed at regime change and a nuclear encounter with Russia in Syria. Though she pretended to care about America, her push for war with Russia could lead to the ultimate environmental disaster and a total loss of life of everyone in the United States. Clinton has lost credibility with the public, something that will likely come back to bite her on Election Day.
Trump had the support of the debate audience in referencing that Hillary should be in jail. Polls show that significantly more Americans would prefer to see Hillary in prison than the Presidency. Most of those wanting to see her in prison voted or tried to vote in the Democratic Primary. He apologized for his old comments that he had thought were private and was effective at discussing Hillary’s mistreatment of rape victims. The odd part is that the debate audience was chosen by Clinton supporters Cooper and Raddatz while Trump carried the biggest applause. Donald played to West Virginia and Pennsylvania with his support for coal. There is no such thing as clean coal but it is currently an industry that motivates voters in some states. With regards to healthcare, Trump started to speak about block grants to cover health care but did not explain this. He said his plan would continue coverage of pre-existing conditions, would increase the number of insured and decrease the costs, but his plan wasn’t clear. Both he and Hillary Clinton are still pushing a failed insurance system while polls show the majority of the public support single payer. Trump didn’t discuss much about his jobs program or opposition to the TPP, where he does best. Unlike Clinton, he spoke of working with the Russians towards peace. He made points making note of Hillary’s foreign policy failures. His push for nuclear weapons was problematic to viewers who are already afraid Hillary will annihilate the world. Trump blew the Muslim question. A large segment of American voters needs assurances that they will not be targeted and Trump failed to do that. Trump needs to counter the image of being an Islamophobic. Trump’s main problems during the debate were (1) pacing, (2) holding the mike so close that his breathing was very loud, (3) sketchy positions and (4) terrible positions on the issues.
In contrast, Dr. Jill Stein has a genuine clean energy plan that, unlike Hillary’s plan, doesn’t include fracking and natural gas pipelines. Jill’s health care plan is all inclusive and eliminates bureaucratic red tape by allowing health care dollars to go to treatment. She plans to re-vitalize the economy by eliminating student debt. She noted that we are not winning any of these conflicts but that her opponents are calling for more war. Jill has called for a peace accord, a cease fire, a weapons embargo and the freezing of accounts of allies (ike Saudi Arabia) who fund terrorism. Stein came across as the most knowledgeable and educated on foreign and domestic policy. She spoke of collaborating with the Russians to bring about nuclear disarmament. She referenced Mikhail Gorbachev’s comments that we have never been so close to nuclear war. She pointed out that America is ready for a new politics of integrity. She is the only candidate not enmeshed in scandal. Her supporters plan to reject the lesser evil vote for the greater good.
Despite the media blackout, more than a million viewers watched Jill’s segment of the debate. Democracy Now was going to include Jill in the debate in real time but Amy Goodman got distracted with the recent Trump recording, Democracy Now did not adequately prepare for its promised program and the result was that there were technical problems. Democracy Now is planning a special program on October 10, which will be a three—way debate, inclusive of Jill. Though Democracy Now messed up, Jill’s three-way debate, which took place during the two-way, is available to view on Facebook at the current time.
